Naked Whey Review: Just How Good is it?

Grass Fed Whey Protein Powder / Naked Whey - 5lb

Why did we decide to make a Naked Whey ReviewBecause this product deserves some attention. Keep reading to find out more about this grass-fed protein powder, and why we like it!

Naked Whey from Naked Nutrition is something out of the ordinary. In contrast to most other protein supplements, it only contains one thing: Protein.

This protein comes from cows with a 100% grass-fed diet, meaning it’s made of clean milk from a happy cow. These cows are not injected with growth hormones of any kind.

If you’re really interested, it might be fun to know that the milk comes from cows living on small dairy farms in California. Thumbs up for supporting them!

How Is Naked Whey Different from Other Products?

It has already has been mentioned, but it bears repeating – Naked Whey only has one ingredient. Whey protein from grass-fed cows.

Naked Whey is free from all unnecessary additives that most other products are filled with. First of all, there are no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors. There’s no need for it. Naked Whey is also free from soy, gluten, GMO, and growth hormones.

Unlike many other whey protein powders, Naked Whey is cold processed. Careful manufacturing processes ensure that your product is free from synthetic additives, chemical detergents, and heavy metals. Cold processing also helps preserve natural nutrients, essential amino acids, and minerals.

Did you know that a recent study found that 40 percent of 134 tested brands of protein powder showed elevated levels of heavy metals? In light of this, it makes sense to mention that Naked Nutrition goes the extra mile to ensure that they have made a clean product.

They have their products tested at independent laboratories. As such, Naked Whey has been tested for levels of Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, Mercury and the allergen Gluten. This gives you full control of what’s going into your body, which is and should be a number one priority!

Naked Whey review: Test results

Is Naked Whey Organic?

Pretty close, but no. For it to be certified organic, the dairy farms that deliver the milk would need to be certified organic. And to be certified organic by the USDA requires a lot of time and expenses, so they probably decided it wasn’t necessary. Sure, a certified organic product may sound better, but it actually doesn’t matter that much.

The most important thing is that the product you get is top quality. Because Naked Whey is made of milk from cows that have not been injected with growth hormones and have a 100 percent grass-fed diet, it’s about as natural as it gets. It’s just missing the certification.

Grass-Fed Cows

Benefits of a Product Made of Grass Fed Milk

recent study found that milk from grass-fed cows has a superior fatty acid profile, compared to that of organic and conventional milk. They found that milk from grass-fed cows contains higher amounts of omega-3, conjugated linoleic acid(CLA) and long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. They also found that it had a lower, and thus more desirable, omega-6/omega-3 ratio.

Feeding cows grass is more natural than feeding them concentrate. These cows get to wander around pastures, eating as they please. If they have a 100% grass-fed diet, they’re not exposed to any unnatural or genetically modified food.

Naked Whey is made of milk from 100% grass-fed cows. This makes a great base for a high-quality product, full of useful nutrients.

Naked Whey Review Criteria #1: The Taste

Naked Whey is almost completely tasteless. When mixed with only water, it both looks and tastes like fresh milk. It gets a little creamy, but I’ve not seen it as a problem. If it’s mixed with only milk, it gets somewhat thick. My preferred option is to mix it 50/50 with milk and water – perfect consistency and I like the taste.

Because of Naked Whey’s neutral taste, it also works great in a smoothie or even baked goods. In fact, this is one of the best traits of unflavoured protein powder. You can use it in bread, milkshakes or even pancakes. You end up with a healthy and protein-rich snack!

If you think Naked Whey is great but would like another taste, Less Naked Whey might be the solution. It’s almost the same as Naked Whey, it just contains two additional ingredients. The options are:

1. Less Naked Whey Chocolate – Naked Whey with organic coconut sugar and organic chocolate.

2. Less Naked Whey Vanilla – Naked Whey with organic coconut sugar and vanilla.

3. Less Naked Whey Strawberries – Naked Whey with organic coconut sugar and dried strawberries.

Naked Whey Review Criteria #2: Mixability

Compared to other products, it’s a bit harder to mix in a shaker bottle. This is probably because Naked Whey does not contain lecithin, an additive used to reduce viscosity in food and supplements.

You do have to shake a couple of extra times in order for it to properly mix, which in my opinion is not a big hassle. I think of it as a small price to pay for such a clean product.

Naked Whey Review Criteria #3: Nutritional Value

The most important factor when choosing any kind of supplement is the nutritional value. After all, that’s what we’re paying for!

Being that Naked Whey is a whey protein concentrate, it’s not as pure as a whey isolate. In return, it does contain more of its naturally occurring nutrients and minerals. Whey concentrate usually has more biologically active components than whey isolates, making them ideal for athletes.

The careful manufacturing process of Naked Whey leaves a great composition of the three BCAAs; Isoleucine, Leucine, and Valine. Especially Leucine is known for its role in muscle building and recovery. Unprocessed whey protein contains about 10 grams of leucine per 100 grams of protein, and Naked Whey protein contains 9.94 grams. This speaks to the quality of Naked Whey!

From 30 grams of Naked Whey, you get 25 grams of high-quality protein and not much else. It’s low in fat, carbohydrates, and sugar. 120 calories per serving is on the lower end of the scale for a whey protein powder.

As far as nutritional value goes, Naked Whey delivers exactly what it promises!

Naked Whey Review Criteria #4: Universality

So what do I mean by “universality”? Well, I’ve seen people ask if a supplement is suitable for them. As a basic but common example, the question “what is the best protein powder for women?”. I’ve seen this question on forums several times.

As stated several times before (maybe too many times by now), one of Naked Whey’s best features is that it only contains clean protein. This means that the product is suitable for just about everyone! The exception would be those with allergies or lactose intolerance. Secondly, vegans will not want to use it.

Naked Whey Review Criteria #5: The Company Behind the Product

Naked Whey is produced by Naked Nutrition, also called Nkd Nutrition, a small company founded in 2014. While it’s not easy to find a lot of information about the company itself, they are active on multiple social platforms and their website Naked Nutrition. Their website contains a lot of useful information about their products and nutrition in general. Furthermore, they answer peoples questions about their products on social channels and Amazon.

Naked Nutrition’s core values inspire trust in them. Their mission is to sell products with only the purest ingredients and to be transparent about what they sell. By looking at their products and what they actually contain, you can see that they are serious. Like Naked Whey – it’s just whey protein.

Because of their solid values, transparency and active profile, I really think that Naked Nutrition is a reliable and solid company!

What Are Others Saying?

This review is just one of many Naked Whey reviews, so let’s take a look at what others are saying about the product.

From about 1,900 Naked Whey reviews on Amazon, less than 200 are 1 or 2-star ratings. The ones that are less happy about the product seems to either dislike the taste or think that it’s difficult to mix.

About 1,600 consumers give either a 4 or 5-star rating! Another 100 are 3-star ratings. What’s funny is that a lot of the best reviews also mention the taste. In fact, several consumers on Amazon say that it’s the best tasting protein powder.

As a result of this information, our conclusion is that most consumers are satisfied with their Naked Whey protein!

Review Summary

This whey protein powder is something else! It has become one of my favorite protein powders, due to its simplicity. Our review of Naked Whey concludes that the product deserves 5 stars in all categories, except for mixability and taste.
